Editorial Workflow

Editorial Workflow

KLAUSULA: Jurnal Hukum Tata Negara, Hukum Administrasi, Pidana dan Perdata

KLAUSULA applies a structured editorial workflow to ensure that each manuscript is processed consistently, transparently, and according to the journal's editorial, ethical, peer-review, production, and publication standards. The workflow proceeds through the following stages: Submission → Review → Revision → Copyediting → Production → Publication.

1. Submission

Authors submit the manuscript through the journal's OJS platform and complete all required submission metadata. The editorial office performs an initial administrative and editorial screening before the manuscript enters peer review.

  • check conformity with Focus and Scope;
  • check manuscript completeness and file format;
  • check author metadata, abstract, keywords, and references;
  • check plagiarism/similarity and ethical compliance;
  • check adherence to Author Guidelines and Manuscript Requirements;
  • return incomplete or non-compliant submissions for technical correction where necessary.
Possible outcomes: Proceed to review, return for technical revision, or reject at editorial screening.

2. Review

Manuscripts that pass editorial screening are assigned to qualified reviewers in accordance with the journal's Peer Review Process. Reviewers assess the manuscript's scholarly quality, relevance, originality, legal analysis, methodology or approach, clarity, and contribution.

  • editor selects suitable reviewers and checks potential conflicts of interest;
  • reviewers receive the manuscript and review instructions;
  • reviewers provide comments and recommendations;
  • editor evaluates reviewer reports and determines the next editorial action;
  • confidentiality of the manuscript and review process must be maintained.
Possible recommendations: Accept, minor revision, major revision, resubmit for review, or reject.

3. Revision

When revision is required, the manuscript is returned to the author together with reviewer and editor comments. Authors are expected to revise the manuscript carefully and provide a clear response to the requested changes.

  • author revises the manuscript according to reviewer/editor comments;
  • author uploads a revised manuscript and response to reviewers where required;
  • editor checks whether the requested revisions have been addressed;
  • major revisions may be returned to reviewers for another review round;
  • the revision cycle may continue until an editorial decision is reached.
Editorial decision: Accept, request further revision, or reject.
EDITORIAL ACCEPTANCE

Only manuscripts formally accepted by the editor proceed to copyediting and production.

4. Copyediting

Accepted manuscripts enter copyediting to improve consistency, readability, technical accuracy, citation quality, and conformity with the journal's editorial style without changing the author's scholarly meaning.

  • check grammar, spelling, punctuation, and language consistency;
  • check article structure, headings, tables, figures, and captions;
  • check citation and reference consistency;
  • check author names, affiliations, ORCID, abstract, and keywords;
  • check DOI and reference metadata where applicable;
  • resolve copyediting queries with the author where necessary.

5. Production

The copyedited manuscript is prepared for final publication. Production includes layout, proof preparation, metadata verification, and final quality control before the article is published.

  • prepare the final article layout and publication galley;
  • verify journal identity, volume, issue, year, pagination/article number, and DOI;
  • verify title, authors, abstract, keywords, references, and article metadata;
  • check figures, tables, hyperlinks, and PDF readability;
  • conduct final proof checking by the editorial team and/or author;
  • confirm that the final production file matches the accepted manuscript.

6. Publication

After final quality control, the article is scheduled and published in the appropriate issue of KLAUSULA. The journal then ensures that the published article, metadata, DOI, and indexing information are accurate and accessible.

  • publish the article in the assigned volume and issue;
  • activate or verify DOI resolution;
  • check the final article landing page and PDF;
  • verify metadata consistency between OJS, PDF, DOI, and Crossref;
  • include the article in current issue and archive records;
  • support dissemination and indexing according to journal policy.

Quality Control Across All Stages

  • ethical and publication-integrity checks may be conducted at any stage;
  • metadata should be updated whenever the manuscript changes materially;
  • editorial decisions and significant actions should be documented in OJS;
  • conflicts of interest and confidentiality requirements apply throughout the process;
  • post-publication corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern are handled under the journal's relevant policies.
