Publication Ethic
UNISKA LAW REVIEW adapted COPE to meet high quality ethical standards for publishers, editors, authors and reviewers. As an important issue, publication ethics needs to be explained clearly and well-defined in order to improve the quality of research worldwide. In this section, we describe the standards for editors, authors, and reviewers. In addition, the publisher has no right to interfere with the integrity of the content and only supports timely publishing of articles. So there are some guidelines that need to be followed as mentioned below.
For Editors
There are several things that the editor needs to pay attention to, such as:
- Every article published in UNISKA LAW REVIEW is the responsibility of the Editor;
- Authors need to follow instructions and be guided by the Editor
- The editor has an important role to communicate with other editors or reviewers in making the final decision
- Evaluation of manuscripts objectively for publication, assessing each quality regardless of the author's nationality, ethnicity, political beliefs, race, religion, gender, seniority, or institutional affiliation has been carried out by the editor. Rejecting the assignment is necessary if a potential conflict of interest is found
- Information about the author and his affiliation must be ensured that it is not included in the manuscript sent to the reviewer, and vice versa
- The author needs to be notified of the editor's decision according to the reviewer's comment report unless it contains offensive or slanderous comments
- Author requests must be respected by editors whereas individuals may not review submissions as long as they are reasonable and practicable
- The confidentiality of manuscript submission is guaranteed by members of the editorial board
- The COPE flowchart is used as a guide for the editor if an alleged violation or authorship dispute is found.
For Reviewers
There are several things that need to be followed up by the reviewer, such as:
- Ethical issues and possible research/publication deviations need attention;
- If the reviewers cannot complete the work on time, they must notify the editor of the journal;
- The confidentiality of the manuscript needs to be maintained by the reviewers
- Potential conflicts of interest or possible research errors in manuscripts must be rejected by the reviewers.
For Authors
- There are several things that need to be considered by the author, such as:
- The author ensures that the manuscript has never been published before and transfers the rights to the article elsewhere
- The originality of the research, as well as the exact citation according to the reference format, needs to be confirmed by the author
- Plagiarism is prohibited in UNISKA LAW REVIEW
- Double publication is also strictly prohibited in UNISKA LAW REVIEW
- The author must provide data and details of the work to the editor, if there is any suspicion of falsification or falsification of data;
- Journal authors must clarify everything that can cause a conflict of interest such as work, research fees, consultant fees, and intellectual property in disclosure documents
UNISKA LAW REVIEW applies the highest ethical standards of authors, reviewers, and editors when conducting research, submitting papers, and during the peer-review process. Thus, using a double-blind review process, where the author's identity is hidden from the reviewer, and vice versa, throughout the review process is carried out.
Submitted manuscripts must not be published or currently submitted elsewhere. Multiple publication is a violation of the APA code of ethics (APA Publication Manual, 2010) and will be grounds for immediate rejection of submitted manuscripts. If the editor is not aware of a violation and the article has been published, a notification of duplicate submission and ethical violation will be issued.
Reporting & Data Access Standards
Authors must report the results of their research accurately and objectively. The data used must be presented accurately. Manuscripts should contain sufficient detail and references so that the work can be replicated by other researchers. Authors may be asked to provide research data for the purposes of Editorial Review.
Originality, Accredited Source, & Confidentiality
The author must ensure that what is written in the manuscript is original. Authors must avoid any form of plagiarism. Proper acknowledgment of the work of others should always be given. Authors must cite publications that influenced the written report. Information obtained from conversations, correspondence, or discussions with third parties must obtain permission from the source to be reported in the manuscript. Authors must ensure that they have written permission to use confidential information.
Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
Authors basically may not publish the same research work in more than one journal. Authors are also prohibited from submitting the same manuscript simultaneously to more than one journal for publication. Authors may not submit published work except in the form of a thesis, lecture material, or electronic preprint.
Authorship of the Paper
Authors should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution (determining the concept, design, execution or interpretation of the manuscript). All such persons must be listed as co-authors. Those who participated in certain aspects of the manuscript (eg language editing) should be identified in the acknowledgments section. Corresponding authors should ensure that all co-authors are included in the paper, and that no co-authors are inappropriate. Corresponding authors are also responsible for ensuring that manuscripts submitted for publication in journals are approved by all co-authors. Writers take collective responsibility for work.
Fundamental Errors in Published Works
If the author finds significant errors or inaccuracies in his published work, the author must notify the Journal Editor to retract the manuscript or correct it. If the editor finds out that there is an error from a third party, then the author must cooperate with the Journal Editor to clarify, correct, or withdraw the manuscript.
Declaration and Verification of Submissions
Submissions have not been previously published or are under consideration in another journal (except in abstract form or as part of a published lecture or academic thesis or as an electronic preprint). Please read more about "Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication" from our Publication Ethics page.
Changes to Authorship
The list of authors listed at the time of submission is final and may not be changed. Authors are expected to carefully consider including the author's order. Addition, deletion or rearrangement of the author's name must be done only before the manuscript is accepted and only if approved by the journal Editor. Written confirmation (email, letter) from all authors is required to make the changes, including confirmation from the authors added or removed. Only in exceptional circumstances will the Editor consider addition, deletion or rearrangement of authors.
