IMPROVING THE STUDENTS’WRITING ABILITY BY USING TEAM PAIR SOLO (TPS) TECHNIQUE OF SECOND GRADE STUDENTS AT SMAN 4 KEDIRI

Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe the implementation of Team Pair Solo (TPS) technique in teaching learning writing and to improve the students’ writing ability through the short functional text (poster pamphlet) at SMAN 4 Kediri.The research design of this research used is the Classroom Action Research (CAR) by using collaborator which focused on a particular group of students in a certain classroom. This research was conducted to the students of class XI-IPA 5 at SMAN 4 Kediri. This research started from doing the preliminary research to know the problem and the procedure in every cycle passed 4 steps, those are planning, acting, observing and reflecting. Whereas the technique of collecting data used are writing test, observation checklist and questioner to know the students respond. Then the technique analysis data used are descriptive interpretative and presented the result from the instrument used. So it can be known the average score in preliminary research test is 63%, the first cycle got 74%  and increase 83% in the second cycle. The conclusion is the implementation of team pair solo can improve the student’s writing ability. From this research is recommended for the teacher to use this technique in teaching writing and the further researcher to continue of this research to get the better result to improve the writing skill, may be used in the other skills such as speaking, listening or reading.
