The Perancangan Terrain Modeling Environment Menggunakan Height Maps Dan Displacement Dalam Scene 3D
Abstract
This study aims to design a 3D terrain modeling environment in the “Silent Mountain” scene using height maps and displacement mapping techniques to enhance visual realism. The main challenge in large-scale terrain modeling lies in the high computational cost caused by manual sculpting methods. The proposed method integrates 32-bit height map data into Blender using displacement and adaptive subdivision techniques. The workflow includes pre-production, production, post-production, and evaluation using a Likert scale. The results indicate that displacement mapping produces more realistic geometry while maintaining computational efficiency compared to manual methods. Adaptive subdivision further optimizes polygon usage dynamically. The evaluation result reached 82%, categorized as very good. This study contributes an effective workflow for developing 3D environments based on elevation data.
